"Wow! So, Ben came and spoke to our last mastermind event, and man, was it fantastic! He is a very talented and brave person, who comes and shares his very unique and powerful story of overcoming adversity, of figuring out how to live within himself, and overcoming the struggles that he has faced in his life. It is so amazing to listen to him speak, and then, to hear him sing as well. He brings that amazing, unique element into his keynotes. I was inspired. I was encouraged. Your audience will be motivated. Your audience will love you for having Ben on your stage, and, he will speak directly to them, where they are at. I think you need to hear what he has to say. So, please invite him to your next event. You will not regret it!”
“I got to watch Ben Bailie (Emokid) do a fantastic performance at the conference. Really fantastic use of music as well as touching and connective stories that everybody should be able to hear because talking about your feelings is super important. And, it’s not only about mental health, it’s just about societal health, and Ben Bailie brings that.” - Tyler C.
We had Ben as our keynote speaker to kick off our week of Faculty Orientation here at Hill Top Preparatory School. With our mission focused on serving neurodiverse students, it was important to us to have someone who understands who we are and what we do. Ben is that person. He speaks from personal experience. His journey as a neurodiverse learner and leader really resonated with our community for so many reasons. He is very open about his own experience and conveys this through a combination of life stories with original music. He discusses both the challenges and opportunities he has faced. There was laughter, reflection, melancholy, and ‘aha’ moments.
While performing his music, he also had us singing, too. This made for a wonderful connection. In particular, one staff member, who is also a parent of one of our graduates, loved how Ben has been able to combine his love of music and his unique way of learning. 'He has been able to turn them into a career that he is passionate about. I think this is something my own daughter could also do.’ Others remarked how he naturally and effortlessly engages with his audience and, through his stories, made us all think of certain students and how we could help them channel their own interests and learning styles into a future aspiration.
I would highly recommend Ben to other school leaders who might be looking for an inspirational speaker. I am also hopeful I can have him back soon to speak to our students. They could definitely relate and I believe he would have a very positive and lasting impact on them.
I loved how engaging it was, how personal it was, and it was completely relatable as a teacher and program developer. Biggest takeaway: To lean into the discomfort of who we are, acknowledge your personal challenges, and be honest about it. I think it’s important to let our kids know that, and I think you reminded us of that too, that our struggles...are okay.
